sometimes ask why I find homes for stray, abandoned and injured animals in Greece when we have animals here needing homes.
Well, having visited Greece many times, I got to see what life as a stray is like there
and I felt compelled to help as Greece has no infrastructure regarding stray animals .... no animal control,
no humane societies, only a few privately run shelters which can manage to care for only a small number of animals.
Adoption of rescued dogs is something the people of Greece are only just beginning to accept as in their
minds, stray dogs are dirty. It's still more common for people to buy a dog from a petshop but then,
when they go on holiday, their dog is left on its own to fend for itself; if it's not anywhere to be seen when they
return, they get another one from the petshop! In the meantime, their other dog, which in many instances hasn't
been sterilized, is out there making litters. So, as is often the case when one gets involved
with a project close to their heart, the rest is history. I sincerely thank
everyone who supports this effort, be it by adoption, fostering, making a donation, volunteering to do home visits for
potential adoptions or participating in our fundraising activities. It is YOU
who truly makes a difference in the lives of these animals so I hope you'll find this a worthy cause to support!

A very important, but often overlooked aspect of responsible pet ownership is being
financially prepared for veterinary needs for your pets when they arise. Please

for Tails from Greece Rescue will be held on Sunday, September

rely totally on donations to support our rescue efforts.
